“Think fat loss vs weight loss” With the pow “Think fat loss vs weight loss”

With the power up challenge around the corner it is essential to understand the importance of fat loss vs overall weight loss.

The data from your InBody scan shows your overall weight, and the about of pounds coming from muscle vs fat that make up that overall weight. It also shows what your percent body fat (PBF) is.

We focus on PBF over your scale weight because our goal for YOU is to lose straight fat, and maintain/gain muscle! This affects your PBF tremendously more because you’re likely losing muscle instead of fat with overall weight loss.

Eating the proper amount of calories, protein, carbs, and fats combined with good strength training will make sure you sustain your current muscle mass pounds and facilitate muscle growth and straight fat loss!

This man right here (@briankaldahl) is a walking m This man right here (@briankaldahl) is a walking miracle. He fell 25’ off of a roof on Jan 6. He suffered a broken T-11 vertebrae, a bruised lung, and a concussion. Monday, Jan 30th, he returned to the gym!

He is modifying movements, loading , and intensity to stay within his doctors parameters, but is thankful to be moving again. And we couldn’t be happier to have him back!

Both his trauma and spine doctors said that had he not had the supportive musculature that he has, the outcome could have been much worse. As his wife, @elishakphoto , said, “This miracle is brought to you by Jesus and CrossFit!”

Looks like CrossFit does make you harder to kill 💪🏼
MEMBER (COACH) MONDAY ⭐️ Next up is Coach @i MEMBER (COACH) MONDAY ⭐️

Next up is Coach @its_guy_man. He is the head coach of @notch8barbell and is kind enough to jump in and coach some CrossFit classes when needed.

Tell us about yourself family, job, hobbies:
My wife Mariana and I live in Brownsburg with our dogs, Winston and Gizmo.
I am an Energy System and Fuels Manager at AES Indiana providing safe and reliable electric power to Indianapolis and the surrounding area.
I enjoy training my dogs, hiking, sports, and traveling.

How long have you been at Notch 8?
I let Jake Sharp talk me into coming over to coach 6 years ago after moving back to Indy from Los Angeles, California.

What is something you love about Notch 8?
I never thought when I started, but I love working with people who are new to athletics, especially young athletes. It’s fun to work with an ex collegiate or professional athlete, but youth and beginners are much more rewarding to me. Watching someone gain confidence and develop discipline, especially when they introduce in other aspects of their life is a fulfilling process.

What is your favorite movement/WOD?
Anything in competition. People, especially adults and above average athletes really struggle to put their egos aside and compete for fear of failure, but I find that extremely rewarding. It allows us to learn and exposes holes in our training or mindset that will make you a better athlete and person. So Snatch and Clean and Jerks obviously.

What is your favorite Notch 8 memory?
Lyla Sharp winning USA Weightlifting Youth Nationals, Brynn Weaver getting Bronze, and Connor Ludwig getting Silver at Senior Nationals in 2020. Connor had the chance to take Gold on his final lift. Close second is Ella Crane and myself winning the 2022 USA Weightlifting North American Open at the Arnold in 2022.

What advice would I give a newbie or someone afraid to try CrossFit?
The work you put into trying new things, learning new skills, or accomplishing goals will reward you equally.
